Hi all, I am just wondering if anyone has a lead sheet for "Finger Painting", a great tune that Herbie Hancock recorded with V.S.O.P.

(I'll in the process of transcribing it myself, but would like to check the changes against someone else's for accuracy if possible.) Thanks!

Hi! Here's my best shot. Gustav, please post your transcription here for comparison. Best, Ville

Hi there! Here's what I've got. I was working off of this Christian Macbride recording (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QREh1YtnQAM), so there could be some discrepancies as a result of the different version...namely the intro to that version is only eight bars.

As far as the chords go, I've marked measure three as a C triad/C#, which is what I hear the guitar and bass doing on this recording. But that's really basically the same as the Dbmaj7#11 you have, save for an E natural. I was not sure in measure four if a Dmin sound or a Gsus was appropriate, but tended to hear more Gsus on the Macbride recording (it's never really played as a G7).

I also heard a Bb triad over F# in the pedal sections, in lieu of a Bdim/F#, but went back and forth as to whether the Bb I was hearing was the root of the chord or just a color tone. Pretty ambiguous. Thanks for comparing notes!

Best,
Jeffrey
