Wondering if anyone knows where I can get a lead sheet for Larry Coryell’s ‘Half A Heart’? I’m working on a transcription using the version from the Retrospective DVD, but it’s proving to be a challenge (and I’m just learning, at this point). I’d appreciate knowing about any other sources for this music. Thanks!

Hi!

Here's my attempt to get it down. I added a sample bass line to give a clue of the groove. Please point out any mistakes.

Best, Ville

Brilliant, Ville! Thank you.

I'll post the version I'm working on in a few days. I'm hearing a little more detail in the A-section chords (Dm7, Em7, Am7, for a few measures, then Cm7 and Gm7), and a couple of other details.

Thanks, again! Be well.

Evan

Hi Evan!

I didn't include detailed harmony for the D minor bars, which seem to me being derived from D Dorian mode. Alternatively, I could count in three chords (Dm, Em and Am) in one measure. However, once the melody and harmony there distinctly imply D Dorian tonality, I decided to give only one chord symbol. I think this preference makes it easier to follow the chart.

I'm looking forward to see your interpretation of the tune. :)

Best from Ville
